Internship Opportunity: Arif Mohamed for Fremont City Council

The candidate: Arif Mohamed, longtime resident of Fremont. His children attended local public schools, and he is the founder of a nonprofit that has served 50,000+ meals to Fremont’s homeless population. His top priorities are homelessness, public safety, and affordable housing.

Who can apply: Current high school, middle school, and college students and recent graduates in the East Bay are encouraged to apply. Applicants under 18 must fill out forms for parental consent.

What is expected: As an intern, you’ll be able to get hands-on experience working on all facets of a campaign. Our program is designed to rotate students through a variety of tasks. As a baseline, you would be expected to do your best when you are assigned a task. All fellows will canvass or phone bank in predetermined areas in addition to chosen tasks.

Specialty Areas: A unique aspect of this internship program is that there are a multitude of specialty areas for interns to explore, including outreach, field work, graphic design, marketing, policy work, journalism, and finance. Interns will have an opportunity to wear many hats over the course of the internship.

Why apply: Arif is deeply rooted in our community. As a longtime resident whose children attended public schools right here in Fremont, he understands the value of opportunity within a safe community. He emphasizes giving our Fremont youth a space in our system to grow and flourish. That value is reflected in this internship program. Here, you can play a role in shaping the future of Fremont. Interns who meet all the requirements will receive a letter of recommendation. A political internship will not only provide you with volunteer hours to complete graduation requirements, but also give you the satisfaction of engaging with your community.
